  5. Gnomeria (Gnome themes)

Here are my various works in the field of Linux desktop eye-candy: themes, styles, interfaces. I never pictured myself as an eye-candy author, but nevertheless I became one. I guess you don't really know until you've tried.

1 Blackbox styles

BlackBox is a window manager for X11 windowing systems such as XFree86 or X.org. It has a minimalistic (no-pixmaps) interface composed entirely of gradients, lines and rectangles. Nevertheless, it supports root window wallpapers and various styles. So after using other people's styles I learned how to create my own and, naturally, started making more and more of them. I get bored of each one eventually, no matter how pleased I am with the latest one. That leads to a steady stream of new styles. Enter here to see them.

2 Widget themes

Widget toolkits are what graphical applications on Linux use to render their interfaces. There are many such interfaces, among which the most widely used right now are probably GTK+ v1, GTK+ v2 (used by Gnome) and QT (used by KDE).

From time to time I produce themes for particular widget sets, mostly looking for one that will match a certain BlackBox style. Sometimes I modify existing themes, sometimes I create new ones from scratch. I've chose to bundle all widget themes in the same section since sometimes I release packages dealing with several widgets at once. Enter here to see them.

3 Experiments

Various experiments resulting in worthy eye-candy for the Linux desktop. Basically, all you will find here are screenshots and instructions on how to duplicate them on your desktop if you're willing to make the effort. Enter here to see them.

4 Font projects

Various font related projects. Right now there are none created by me, I only mirror some very interesting ones done by other people. Enter here to see them.

5 Gnomeria (Gnome themes)

There are various Linux applications out there which have the ability to use themes. Some of them are even based on GTK+. However, they do not offer a Gnome theme, or offer one with very old icons. For some of these applications (mainly those which I use myself) I have started an effort of putting together themes called "Gnomeria". They are based on Jakub Steiner's excellent Gnome icons and have been edited and adapted to various extents. Enter here to see my Gnomeria themes.
