About

1. What’s this site about?

In short, it’s about Linux. I’ve been using Linux for quite a few years now, both on the desktop and on servers. This site contains all kinds of things I find out or come up with while using this operating system.

But that’s not all. Since I use Linux as my main desktop system I also have other things to share: hardware drivers and opinions, application themes and skins, tips and tricks, kernel and desktop configurations, scripts and programs that make my life easier.

2. What Linux distributions are you using?

I’m currently using Debian on my desktop. Since I don’t like to get bored, I use the “unstable” release. I really like the package manager (apt). If you’re interested, I recommend to be cautios with “unstable”, it can play quite a few tricks on you. Go with “testing” instead. Or I can recommend Ubuntu Linux, which is based on Debian but especially polished for maximum desktop-user satisfaction.

3. How can I contact you?

If you need to contact me personally really really bad, then and only then should you email me at the address xl zuavra net. Sorry about showing you the address like this. I already have all the spam I need, and more.

You can also write a comment attached to this page in order to get my attention.

Please note, however, that I am usually pretty busy and there’s no telling when I will get back to you.

4. Do you have an Atom or RSS feed?

Yes, I have several. You can watch the article feed in RSS 2.0, RSS 0.92 or Atom 0.3 format.

Modern browsers will also provide an orange feed icon on the address bar whenever feeds are detected on a website. This website fully supports these browsers.

5. Credits and copyright

The orange syndication icon is made available for free by the Mozilla Foundation, who are also the producers of the excellent Firefox browser, which I’ve used in testing this site and everyday otherwise.

The other icons used on this site were created by the Tango Project. Some have been modified by me. As per the terms of their license, you are free to get them and use them, even those I have modified, provided you also give credit like I do here.

The menu at the top of the page was put together with thanks to the Sliding Doors of CSS article, written by Douglas Bowman and published on the A List Apart website.

The header leaf pattern was graciously provided for free by Travis Beckham via the Squidfingers pattern collection.

The background image of Tux (the Linux mascot) is used with permission from Larry Ewing and with acknowledgement of The Gimp, which was used both in creating the original as well as by me in decorating this site.

The image of the GNU mascot has been provided by the Free Software Foundation.

The site was put together using WordPress and I’d like to thank its authors and the authors of all the WordPress plugins I am using.

Thanks are also in order for all those who work to create and maintain free software. This website was built completely around free software, from the webserver to the text editor I used.

The copyright of the comments belongs to their respective authors. You would make it easier for me if you always used a valid email address, name and/or website when posting a comment. Copyright without a valid means identity doesn’t mean much.
